Since 1991, I have been working with agencies and entities charged with helping the disabled and disadvantaged resolve problems that inhibit their abilities to function with some level of independence. For more than nine of these 16 years, I've worked exclusively in the area of Administrative Law, helping uncles get their Veteran's Affairs benefits, grandmothers get Social Security and children with real mental and physical limitations secure Disability.
In the course of this work, I recognized an awesome abillity to work with various populations and an ensuing passion for the same. With that understanding I matriculated at Tulane University successfully completing and obtaining a Masters of Science in Public Health. Equipped with not only the zeal for social and community service, but also the knowledge and credentials that support broad reception of my ideas, I am confidently prepared to work as a public health and development consultant.
Traditionally when we think of public health, we think of disease prevention. Rarely do we think of the services and programs affected by and effective to the same. A great example of this is the growing interest in elderly care services such as home health or intensive case management. Although community groups and development corporations often recognize the lucrative results of providing residential housing for this population, they minimize their potential to provide a complete host of services that may further enhance the elderly's opportunity for health maintence and well being that can be offered through and by the residential community in which they live.
With this preface, it has long been my belief that agencies and organizations committed to community development should consider "holistic" programs, that is programs that assist the whole person. Therefore, the programs that I design and develp are uniquely designed to help the defined population through the provision of multiple supportive services.
